Role Overview

Responsible for ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing database environments supporting business-critical applications and cloud-based services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate database platforms to guarantee availability, reliability, and optimal system performance.
  • Administer databases deployed in cloud infrastructures such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Design and implement database configurations aligned with application and organizational requirements.
  • Monitor system performance, detect bottlenecks, and execute optimization and tuning activities.
  • Establish and manage backup strategies, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery solutions, including cloud-native capabilities.
  • Control database access through proper user, role, and permission management while maintaining strong security standards.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance activities such as upgrades, patching, and capacity forecasting.
  • Ensure consistency, integrity, and protection of stored data according to internal policies and industry best practices.
  • Diagnose operational issues and provide timely troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Partner with development teams on database structure design, query optimization, and deployment processes within CI/CD workflows.
  • Maintain clear operational documentation, configurations, and procedural guidelines.

Requirements

  • Professional experience working as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with relational database systems, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Practical experience managing databases in cloud ecosystems (AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, or Azure Database Services).
  • Solid understanding of cloud security concepts including networking rules, IAM roles, and managed database services.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup strategies, recovery processes, and security best practices.
  • Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver), Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent certification or practical experience.
