Senior Microsoft Fabric & Power BI Consultant
Role Overview
Our client is looking for a Senior Microsoft Fabric & Power BI Consultant to lead complex analytics and BI consulting engagements for enterprise customers. The role combines hands-on technical consulting with customer-facing responsibilities, solution architecture, technical leadership, and knowledge sharing. The successful candidate will work directly with business and technical stakeholders to understand their objectives, design scalable analytics solutions, and guide customers through implementation, modernization, and optimization initiatives. In addition to customer delivery, the role contributes to the development of internal technical standards, reusable assets, best practices, and knowledge-sharing initiatives around Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end consulting engagements across Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, including assessments, advisory projects, implementations, modernization initiatives, and technical reviews.
- Facilitate customer discovery sessions, workshops, and technical discussions to understand business objectives and translate them into appropriate technology solutions.
- Design scalable analytics, reporting, data modeling, and BI architectures based on customer requirements.
- Provide objective technical recommendations and help customers make informed technology and business decisions.
- Prepare high-quality technical documentation, architecture materials, presentations, and other consulting deliverables.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical direction on complex Microsoft Fabric and Power BI engagements.
- Contribute to solution architecture, design decisions, and technical reviews.
- Help resolve complex technical challenges and provide guidance to other consultants.
- Promote consistent engineering standards, scalable architectures, and best practices across projects.
- Support pre-sales activities, solution proposals, and technical presentations when required.
- Design and implement modern analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
- Work with semantic models, Power Query, DAX, data modeling, and Power BI Service.
- Configure and manage Power BI workspaces, deployment pipelines, security, governance, and performance optimization.
- Evaluate and apply relevant Microsoft Fabric capabilities to meet customer requirements.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives involving traditional BI and data platforms.
- Create reusable templates, accelerators, reference implementations, and delivery assets.
- Contribute to technical standards, methodologies, and internal best practices.
- Document lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve delivery processes and quality.
- Mentor other consultants and share technical knowledge through internal sessions and collaborative activities.
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical communities.
- Evaluate emerging Microsoft Fabric and Power BI capabilities and assess their practical application.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the organization's analytics consulting practice.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI in enterprise analytics or Business Intelligence environments.
- Proven experience delivering analytics or BI solutions directly for customers, preferably within a consulting or multi-client environment.
- Ability to independently lead technical workstreams, consulting engagements, workshops, and customer discussions.
- Excellent knowledge of Power BI, semantic models, DAX, Power Query, data modeling, Power BI Service, workspace administration, deployment pipelines, security, governance, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of business requirements and the ability to translate them into practical and scalable technical solutions.
- Experience designing analytics and reporting architectures and producing technical and architecture documentation.
- Good knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and data integration concepts.
- Familiarity with Azure data services, Git, and CI/CD principles.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and structured approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to challenge assumptions constructively and provide objective, evidence-based technical recommendations.
- Professional approach to customer communication and the ability to build credibility and trust through technical expertise.
- Willingness to mentor colleagues and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and technical development.
Bonus / Nice to Have
- Practical experience with Microsoft Purview, OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory, or other Azure Data Services.
- Experience with AI-related capabilities within Microsoft Fabric.
- Previous consulting experience involving multiple customers or concurrent engagements.
- Experience developing internal methodologies, reusable consulting assets, templates, or accelerators.
- Experience facilitating architecture and technology decision-making with customers.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as PL-300, DP-600, or equivalent practical expertise.
- Experience mentoring technical consultants or contributing to the development of a technical practice.
- Contribute beyond individual projects through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
